The ski station sits atop a mountain which is 2000 metres above sea level. The Xtraice rink was a huge hit in the first week, as many skiers wanted to try their hand in another sport and enjoy one of the most unique experiences in the world – ice skating atop a mountain. The resort received a brilliant response from their skiers who loved the experience and were amazed at the unique similarity of Xtraice to real ice.
The skating rink will remain open until April when it will be moved to a summer location. The Xtraice rink will return atop the Italian Alps in September 2014 to coincide with the skiing season.
The resort has found a unique way to diversity their income with the installation of an Xtraice ecological rink, which is not reliant on weather in the same way skiing is, while still offering their customers something they want!
